Our Mission: The Tiwahe Foundation is a resource for giving and strengthens American Indian commnunities by building capacity through leadership, culture, values and vision.

Tiwahe Strategic Plan • 2014-2017

Strategic Vision — We envision American Indian people and families:

  • Learning, practicing and sharing cultural indigenous knowledge and values.
  • Being self-sufficient and self-determined.
  • Serving as leaders who promote and strengthen community well-being.

Strategies:

HONOR RELATIONSHIPS as a means of supporting positive communities and cultural change.

Infrastructure

Goal: Develop organizational infrastructure in order to be good stewards of community resources.
Outcome: Strengthen and expand overall grantmaking and development capabilities.

Endowment

Goal: Complete $6 million Endowment Campaign by 2017.
Outcome: Secure permanent funding for American Indian Family Empowerment Fund Grants.

Programs

AIFEP and Leadership
 Goal: Foster leadership that results in cultural and community transformation.
Outcome: Create an alumni network of American Indian Family Empowerment Fund grantees that is part of statewide network of leaders for collaborative action.

Goal: Sustain the American Indian Family Empowerment Fund through grants and support of individual leaders.
Outcome: Fund at least 100 American Indians in goal areas of education, economic stability and culture.
