The Tiwahe Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce the hiring of our new Executive Director, Chad Poitra.
Chad is a former Tiwahe grant recipient, longtime advocate and community leader whose experience, relationships, passion and entrepreneurial spirit will further the Foundation’s mission
Prior to joining Tiwahe Foundation, Chad facilitated the Charitable Giving Program of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, a federally recognized, sovereign Native American tribe located southwest of Minneapolis/St. Paul. In this role, Chad managed the tribe’s grant and donation programs, facilitating over $30 million in contributions since 2018.
An enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, Chad has worked with tribes and Native-led organizations for several decades, serving as an Associate Program Officer for Indian Land Tenure Foundation, an American Indian Community Liaison for three Minnesota school districts, and as a business development consultant working with tribal nations and Native-owned businesses.
“I am very excited to work with Chad as he takes on the role of Tiwahe’s Executive Director” said Tiwahe Foundation’s Board Chair Nicole MartinRogers. “In his new position, Chad will bring fresh energy and ideas to reengaging the community and moving our work and community forward.”
“As a former AIFEP grant recipient, I know first-hand the power of the Tiwahe Foundation to support and encourage our Native Twin Cities community,” said Chad. “I’m honored to join with the Board and serve the community to fulfill Tiwahe Foundation’s mission.”
