SMS Privacy & Communications Policy

Program scope. By opting in, you agree to receive SMS/MMS messages from Tiwahe Foundation related to our nonprofit work (e.g., event reminders, volunteer coordination, program updates, impact stories, and donation opportunities). Consent is not a condition of program participation or services.

Opt-in methods we use. You may opt in by: (a) submitting a web form that includes your phone number, (b) texting a keyword we provide to our number, or (c) giving written or verbal consent at an event or over the phone. We record the phone number, consent language, source (e.g., web form, event), date/time, and any keywords used.

Message frequency & cost. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

How to opt out / get help. You can opt out at any time by texting STOP to our number. For help, text HELP or contact us at [email protected] or (612) 722-0999. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Data we collect via SMS. We may collect your mobile number, consent records, message metadata (timestamps, routing, delivery status), and your communications with us.

How we use mobile information. We use your mobile information to send the messages you requested, coordinate participation in our programs, improve our services, and maintain compliance records.

Sharing & selling of mobile data:

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. We may share limited data with service providers (e.g., our messaging platform and delivery partners) solely to send and manage messages on our behalf and to comply with law.

Data retention & security. We retain SMS records only as long as needed for program operations, compliance, and dispute resolution, then delete or de-identify them. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information.

Children’s privacy. Our SMS program is intended for adults aged 18+. We do not knowingly collect mobile information from children.
